About Dr. Graves
Dr. Graves has practiced full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery since 2008. He first planned a career in dentistry. Over time, he found oral surgery more enjoyable and rewarding.
He liked that oral surgery blends medicine and dentistry. It let him care for a wider range of patients in need.
His patient philosophy centers on comfort. He will go out of his way to make every patient’s experience comfortable and positive.
Dr. Graves has enjoyed every day of his work, so much that he doesn’t consider it a job. He is committed to caring for patients and families across El Paso and the Paso del Norte borderland.
Where Did Dr. Graves Train?
Dr. Graves trained at the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville, and the University of Tennessee–Memphis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Kentucky. He then attended dental school at the University of Louisville, graduating in 2004 with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree.
Oral surgeons must complete a residency of at least four years before they can practice. Dr. Graves completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Tennessee–Memphis.
During residency, he learned from and trained beside surgeons and anesthesiologists. He studied safe practices for oral surgery and anesthesia administration.
He is the highest qualified dental professional in administering sedation in an office setting. He also has extensive hands-on experience treating a wide range of oral and facial conditions.
What Certifications Does Dr. Graves Hold?
Dr. Graves is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). He is also a diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). He is also a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS).
Dr. Graves currently holds a faculty position at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.
Hobbies and Interests
Travel is one of Dr. Graves’ favorite hobbies. He is always looking for new places to explore. He has been as far as Hong Kong, Dubai, and Paris, but he also enjoys trips closer to home.
